August Craft Night Make 'n Take

Just a short post to remind you about next week Friday's Craft Night... It will be from 5:00-6:30pm. We will be making these corner bookmarks for all your summer reading. These are also cute gifts to make for kids going back to school.

Also- we will be hosting a card drawing again this month. Since there's still one more month of summer, why not make a summer themed card? Participation is voluntary but the more the merrier! Please bring in your handmade cards that night (do not drop them off earlier). Thanks and see you then!

TGF and CC's Designs New Arrivals

In case you were waiting for some of the new releases by CC's Designs, they have arrived in the store- so stop by for best selection. We also ordered some of the previously released sets but its all new to Island Scrapbooking.

We also received some re-orders of Fleur Anya and H&G Sing by The Greeting Farm. We also got in the new Sunshine set that's great for scrapbookers.

And in case you didn't visit us in awhile, we also received in a big paper shipment recently- lots of new beach themed papers and some new mini glittered polka dot papers in a variety of colors- you'll want to get all of them!

Stationary Box Class Sample

Hi All!

I finally got my act together and made a sample for next week's Stationary Box class. You will learn how to make the box and fill it up with 5 notecards, 3 small cards and 5 tags that all coordinate with the box! (I got my hands on the new paper and bought it all up just for this class! Michele will try to re-order it soon).

July 2010 Newsletter

July... Really? Hilo's weather is so unpredictable... Some days its so hot and sunny, and other days its rainy and overcast... its hard to tell we are in the middle of summer! Lucky for us its not too hot! Perfect weather for crafting!

July Craft Night
The next Craft Night is scheduled for Friday, July 2, 2010 from 5:00pm-6:30pm. We are planning to do a Make 'n Take and will show you the many things your Big Shot can do. We will also be hosting a Card Drawing again, so please bring in your handmade card to Craft Night if you want to participate. Participation is voluntary. If you have questions about Craft Night or the Card Drawing, please contact the store.

Have a suggestion for Craft Night topics? If so, please let us know! We are always interested in knowing what you are wanting to learn.

For those of you who are busy cleaning out your craft rooms, you might want to start putting things aside for our next Fall Clearance Sale. We haven't set a date yet but are looking at either late August or early September. Its never too early to go through your stuff to see what you want to sell. We will provide more information in next month's newsletter.

Stationary Box Class

Learn how to make this personalized stationary gift set for someone special (or yourself!). In addition to the box itself, you will also be making 5 simple notecards , 3x3 notecards and tags to fill your stationary box.

Supplies: Scissors, double stick tape, trimmer w/scoreblade.

Christmas Card Club
What? Christmas in July? Yes! Get a head start on your Christmas card projects this year. Every month until Christmas join Jenny in making some simple Christmas cards, tags, gift card holders, etc. This is a low stress, fun way to get together with fellow crafters and have some fun. Each class will feature between 3-5 projects (depending on degree of difficulty).

Date: Saturday, July 24, 2010
Time: 2:00pm-4:00pm
Cost: $15 per class
Instructor: Jenny
Supplies: scissors, double stick tape, and markers.

Copic Blending Class

Time for another Copic Blending Class with Jenny. Learn how to make the most of your markers by learning 2 blending techniques. Sudents will leave with 2 completed projects. Class size is limited due to personalized attention for each student.

Cost; $20

Supplies: You will be provided with a recommended list of Copics to bring with you to class. No sharing please. Students should also bring double stick tape and scissors.

Distress Techniques

Debi is back with more Distress ink techniques! You will learn basic blending and emboss resist techniques in this class.

Supplies: scissors, double stick tape, Copics. If you have a craft mat and distress blending tool, please bring (not required).

Thank You So Much

Everyone's into that woodgrain look.. you see it on stamps and now it even comes in an embossing folder! Here's the stamped version using white ink over red distressed background. Debi stamped and colored in several of the flowers, cut them out, added stickles, and used pop dots to add dimension to the flowers.

In this close up you can see how the woodgrain was layered over the original flower stamped but the popped up flowers doesn't have the woodgrain on it.

A button and twine were added at the top of the card as an accent. Thanks Debi!
