There Must've Been Some Magic In That Old Silk Hat

Our last Christmas class of the year was this past weekend and although we went overtime, we had fun making a bunch of Christmas tags to get ready for the season. Remember this telescoping snowman tag I shared with you earlier?

Well, Don put his own spin on it and gave the snowman some life! Love the hat Don! I'm told he made it by using the reverse wonky Spellbinder dies and adding in extra strips to form the hat. Great idea!

"Beautiful" Box of Drawers

So after Don took my Box of Drawers class, I knew he would come back with a blue version of it. I was right! He dropped off this sample last week to show us what he made. Instead of a stamped image, he used the "beauty" or "beautiful" kanji cut from the Pagoda Cricut Cartridge.

Sorry, the next photo is not so good, but I wanted to share it anyway. I know it's blurry but that's the best I could do with my iphone. Wanted to show you that Don added some extra washi for the sides of the drawers and a gem for the "drawer pull". It makes it look more like a real drawer now! Thanks Don for sharing this project!

Mahalo From Don

After taking my Easel Card class, I think Don got inspired. He dropped off this card for me at the store and I was quite impressed! Thanks Don! If you would like to see this card up close, its currently on display at the store.

I love how he used the slippers as stoppers.. reminds me of how we use slippers for door stoppers?!

And love how he popped up the Mahalo laser cut to prop up the middle panel. Somehow this reminds me of a welcome mat and leaving your slippers at the door.

Thanks Don! This was a great sample to use in my 2nd class!

Feeling Blue?

Whenever I see a blue card at the store, I know who made it... That's right! Gotta be Don! Don recently took my Easel Card Class and later turned up with these two variations of the cards we made. Love how he used a smaller calendar on the Kiyomi Triple Easel Card to hold the easel up.

Here's a close up of Kiyomi... Yes, he cut out the kimono leaving only the stamped line and then put the washi paper behind it. Crazy yah?

Here's the Mei Li easel card done in blue. I like how he made his own washi looking paper using a sakura rubber stamp background.

Here's what the card looks like when its open.

Be back later to show you another variation of the triple easel card also made by Don!

Don's Hidden Talent

Don has a lot of hidden talents. One day while shopping, I showed him a crochet flower and he revealed to me that he knows how to make them. Of course he told me how easy they are to make, but not being a crocheter myself, I asked him to make me some to buy and the rest is history! These are now available at Island Scrapbooking. Hurry- they go really quickly!

Oh yah- the Arigato you see there is a new custom laser cut by Island Scrapbooking! Perfectly sized for cardmaking.

There's more samples to see at the store, so stop on by to see the rest!

Sakura Punches A La Don

Woah! Had a double take when I passed by this card in the store recently! I must say Mr. Barnes sure did a nice job on this card! He used the new sakura punches that came in last week and popped them up off the branch and curled the petals in. This made all the difference! The middle of the flower is also a new punch and so are the individual petals. Thanks Don for this beautiful card!
